BSL Level 2
This is for you if you have completed and passed either the full Signature BSL Level 1 Award (Units 101, 102 and 103) or the full iBSL Level 1 Award (Units 1A1, 1A2 and 1A3).

We are offering three courses at Level 2, on the follwoing dates.
- Course: Tuesdays 9.30am - 12.30pm*
Delivery: On-campus (face-to-face)
Timeline: Starts 7 October 2025 - Ends 27 May 2026 (28 weeks, plus 4 Saturdays). It is a complete course. It is not divided into different units like the Level One Award. The course will take place one evening a week and on 4 Saturdays (see timetable below).
- Course: Tuesdays 6.00pm - 9.00pm*
Delivery: On-campus (face-to-face)

Timeline: Starts 8 October 2025 - Ends 28 May 2026 (28 weeks, plus 4 Saturdays). It is a complete course. It is not divided into different units like the Level One Award. The course will take place one evening a week and on 4 Saturdays (see timetable below).
- Term 1: 11 weeks starting October until December 2025
- Term 2: 11 weeks starting January until April 2026
- Term 3: 6 weeks starting April until May 2026
Fees: Full course £840 (fee includes all exams). This is payable in full or in three instalments of £280.00 as outlined below.- Payment 1 on enrolment

- Payment 3 by 20 April 2026
These courses will be taught in small groups. The on-campus course requires a minimum of 8 and it can have up to a maximum of 12 students. Course fee includes all tuition, access to Blackboard, handouts and any tests/exams, but not a textbook.
Terms run from October to December, from January to March and from April to May. The full course comprises 150 learning hours (100 guided learning hours plus 50 independent learning hours). Evening lessons are 3 hours long and take place once a week. Saturdays comprise 4 hours of lessons. When enrolling you are committing to the full 28 weeks.
Entry level
A pass in BSL Level 1 Award:
- Part 1, Unit 101
- Part 2, Unit 102
- Part 3, Unit 103
Or the full iBSL Level 1 Award (Units 1A1, 1A2 and 1A3).
Qualification aim
This Level 2 Certificate qualification in British Sign Language is designed to enable learners to develop their skills to communicate with Deaf people using British Sign Language (BSL) in a range of everyday situations. The qualification will allow learners to participate in longer and more varied conversations than at Level 1. The course will develop communication in BSL about real life, routine, and daily experiences. The learner will be able to deal with most routine communication and have enough understanding of grammar to cope with some non-routine communication. Learners should be taught a number of regional variations in sign language.
The specification has been designed to be consistent with the National Language Standards at Level 2.
Course content
This British Sign Language qualification is divided into three units, each of which can be achieved separately.
To achieve the full Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language, candidates are required to achieve all three units.

The schedule for academic year 2025/26 is displayed below. Please note that the schedule below may be subject to change as the course progresses. Tutors will discuss and agree on any changes with students in advance.
- Timetable Tuesdays and Wednesdays: Lessons take place from 6.00pm to 9.00pm (there will be two small breaks through the lesson).
- Timetable Saturdays: Lessons take place from 10.00am to 2.30pm (there will be break throughout the lesson to rest and have lunch).
